The Project Coordinator of the Italian school had organized the transport from Marco Polo Airport to Udine by bus. As soon as they arrived in Udine, they were welcomed by the Italian students and teachers. All the Students stayed with Italian families in Udine and other towns in the province.
On the following day, 28th October, they all met at Malignani Institute, where the Head Teacher, prof. Andrea Carletti, welcomed them. Caterina Gasparini, the Italian Partner School Coordinator and Alessandro Paganin, the Deputy Head Teacher, gave a short presentation of the school, of the international projects in which the school is involved and of the Cooperation Projects between Malignani Institute and the local companies. After that, the Scottish and Norwegian students and teachers had the opportunity of visiting some of the workshops and classrooms of the hosting school.
After a short break, students and teachers were introduced to the theme of the meeting: how to manage a job interview in English. Before leaving for Italy, all the students had been asked to fill in their CV in English, which they had brought to Italy. Specialised staff from Adecco Italia S.p.A., part of the world's largest multinational human resource consulting company and provider of HR solutions, gave the students a training course on the following theme: “Looking for and applying for a job in an international context; how to prepare for a job interview”. At the end of it, the students had the opportunity of applying for a job interview in one of the following areas:
- Technology/engineering/computer/science;
- Finance/retail/marketing/law/administration;
- Health care/social care/education/art/architecture/media.
In the afternoon, after the lunch in the school canten, meetings were organized with young people working in local companies in the area: the Chief Financial Officer of COFIM Srl and Mechanics Srl, which has a great experience in the metallurgical and iron and steel industry, and an engineer working at FERRIERE NORD Spa, a very big company based in Osoppo (UD) specialised in the field of steel production, which includes an electric steel mill, a wire rod rolling mill, a bar rolling mill and various departments devoted to the production of electro-welded wires and lattice girders. The young managers/engineers spoke about their education and their careers and gave the students useful advice on their future studies and careers. The students took an active part in the meetings and asked the speakers a lot of questions.
Later on, the students worked in groups with the supervision of their Norwegian, Scottish and Italian teachers to get ready for their job interviews.
On the following day, 29th October, the participating students had some more time to continue their preparation for their job interviews with the support of their teachers, individually and as group work. Soon after, the students were divided into three groups and were interviewed in English by specialised staff from three human resource consulting companies, Adecco Italia S.p.A., ManpowerGroup - Filiale Udine and Randstad Italia Spa. The job interviews gave the students a good opportunity of testing their skills and preparation to deal with a real job interview and the possibility to learn about the several career opportunities offered in the various employment sectors.
In the afternoon the whole group of Norwegian, Scottish and Italian students and teachers moved by bus to the headquarters of DANIELI Officine Meccaniche in Buttrio.
