PREPARATORY MEETING

Summary and results

The 30th September, the first day of the meeting, was devoted to the journeys to Norway from Italy and Scotland. Norwegian fiordsBoth the Scottish students and teachers and the Italian ones arrived at Ålesund Vigra Airport at 16:30 on the same flight from Amsterdam. The Project Coordinator and the Deputy Head Teacher of the Norwegian school met them at the airport and one hour later they arrived in Brattvåg, the small town where they stayed in the following days.
BrattvågAll the students stayed with Norwegian families and some of them stayed in Harøy, a small island not far from Brattvåg, so they took a ferry to get there.

On the following day, 1st October, they all met at Haram vidaregåande skule, where the  Head Teacher,  Jan Magne Helland, welcomed them with a short presentation of the school.

Ivar Roald, the Project Coordinator, presented the project and explained the tasks of the preparatory meeting. Also the partner schools were presented by the Partner School Coordinators.
WorkshopAfter a short break, the Scottish and Italian students and teachers were shown around the school and visited the workshops and the classrooms. Later on, the Project Coordinator explained the Storyline Project, which is a practical example of cooperation between schools and companies, and the participants debated about what is important if you want to make a good link between the school and the world of work.

Career Days

Students and teachers spent the afternoon in Ålesund to take part in the “Career days” events which are organized once a year to give Norwegian students the opportunity of meeting higher education schools and local companies.

 

 

On 2nd October the participating students were taught how to work out their personal Career Plans. Rolls Royce Marine - LongvaIn the late morning, a visit was organized by car and by ferry to a local company, Rolls-Royce Marine Automation in Longva, which is the world leader for automation and control solutions comprising a vast range of integrated systems and individual products suitable for virtually every vessel type.

The following day, 3rd October, was devoted to the students’ task of preparing and giving a presentation on their national education system. A meeting was also organized with Jan Emblemsvåg, Senior Vice President Innovation and Process Management at VARD companies, who presented his company and spoke about the cooperation between the Norwegian school and the local companies.
After that, all the project participants walked from Haram vidaregåande school to the Kulturkafeen in the town centre where they had a typical Norwegian dinner at 15:30.Ålesund

 

 

 

The last day, 4th October, was devoted to the participants’ journeys back to Italy and Scotland.
ÅlesundThe Italian students and teachers, who left in the afternoon, had the opportunity of visiting Ålesund.
